About the Antminer S23

Every new generation of Bitcoin miner answers the same pressure. The network keeps adding hashrate, so each machine's share of the blocks shrinks month by month, and what decides how long a machine stays worth running is how little electricity it spends per terahash. At its rated 11 joules per terahash the S23 is among the most efficient air-cooled miners in our catalog: it needs about a third of the electricity an Antminer S19 spends for the same work.

It is an industrial machine, not a home appliance. It draws over 3 kW around the clock, more than many household circuits are built to carry continuously, and Bitmain's page lists neither its power input nor a noise figure, so check the supply and the wiring with the seller before planning an install. The S21 Pro from the generation before is rated 76 dBA with its fans at full speed, which is why most owners of machines this size keep them in a garage, a shed or a rack rather than a living room.

For solo mining, one machine this size moves the odds further than any home device can: an S23 hashes about as much as 250 Bitaxe Gammas. The odds at the top of this page are still a lottery's odds. A mean wait is an average, not a countdown, and a big machine can run for its whole working life without finding a block.

On SoloLuck an S23 mines to its owner's own Bitcoin address with a 0% fee: if it solves a block, the network pays the whole reward straight to that address. Whether it pays its electricity in the meantime is the earnings table above. Those earnings are an average over a very long run, which a solo miner only ever collects as a whole block or not at all.

Port 4334 is the Pro tier, for big ASICs, farms and rented hashrate (Braiins Hashpower) (min & start 1,048,576). Port 3333, the Lite tier the setup wizard uses for every ASIC, works too: its difficulty rises on its own to match the machine.

There is no fee and no account. If it solves a block, the network pays the whole reward straight to your address: SoloLuck never holds it. The setup wizard walks through it step by step.

Quick answers

Can one Antminer S23 find a Bitcoin block on its own?

Yes: every hash is a fresh draw, so any miner can. At today's difficulty one Antminer S23 would expect a block about once every 63 years, a 1 in 23,000 chance on any given day, and most never find one.

How much does the Antminer S23 earn a day?

On average, about $11.05 a day at today's difficulty and Bitcoin price, before electricity. At $0.10 per kWh its power costs $8.05 a day, so it nets +$3.00. Solo mining pays that average as a whole block or nothing.

How do I solo mine with a Antminer S23?

Set the pool URL to stratum+tcp://stratum.sololuck.io:4334, the username to your own Bitcoin address (a dot and a worker name are optional) and the password to anything. SoloLuck charges no fee, and a block it finds pays the whole reward straight to your address.

How much power does the Antminer S23 use?

3355 W, by the figures linked on this page.
