About the Avalon Mini 3
The Avalon Mini 3 is Canaan's middle home miner, between the small Avalon Nano 3S and the much larger Avalon Q, and it was launched alongside the Nano 3S in January 2025. Canaan sells it as a heater as much as a miner: a long, low unit meant to stand in a room and warm it, with the mining paying back part of the electricity.
That framing is the honest way to judge it. At 21.3 joules per terahash it is more efficient than an Antminer S19, though not an S21, and its 800 W is a room heater's draw. If you would be running an 800 W heater anyway, the mining is a bonus on electricity you were spending; if not, the earnings table above is the cost of the ticket.
It is a real solo machine, too. An Avalon Mini 3 in a living room found a full Bitcoin block on Solo CKPool in September 2025, listed below from our Solo Block Record and verified on the chain. One block is not a pattern: the odds at the top of this page are what a single Mini 3 faces today.
It is set up from Canaan's own app or web panel and connects to any SHA-256 pool. On SoloLuck it uses the Lite port with your own Bitcoin address as the username, with no fee and no account, and a block it finds pays the whole reward straight to your address.

Quick answers
Can one Avalon Mini 3 find a Bitcoin block on its own?
Yes: every hash is a fresh draw, so any miner can. At today's difficulty one Avalon Mini 3 would expect a block about once every 510 years, a 1 in 190,000 chance on any given day, and most never find one.
How much does the Avalon Mini 3 earn a day?
On average, about $1.36 a day at today's difficulty and Bitcoin price, before electricity. At $0.10 per kWh its power costs $1.92 a day, so it nets −$0.56. Solo mining pays that average as a whole block or nothing.
How do I solo mine with a Avalon Mini 3?
Set the pool URL to stratum+tcp://stratum.sololuck.io:3333, the username to your own Bitcoin address (a dot and a worker name are optional) and the password to anything. SoloLuck charges no fee, and a block it finds pays the whole reward straight to your address.
How much power does the Avalon Mini 3 use?
